When I was making out my living will a few years ago I came to realize that, in addition to my children, I am most thankful for my faith. And the faith that is rooted in me came about largely because of the existence of a physical church and its teachings. Since you can't give money directly to God as a thank you, and since God doesn't need money, the best we can do is support the things that help bring the Good News to others. I've not been a member of St. John's all my life, but it is my church home now. It is this institution that gives others the opportunity to learn about God and His tremendous love for all of us. And so I wanted to thank St. John's for keeping my faith alive. I've told my boys what I did in my will — that 10% of my estate goes to St. John's first, and then they will split the rest. I hope this act inspires them to do the same.
